WINDOW and Orango's Obese CMMB TV-enabled PMPs

With the Beijing Olympics, Chinese PMP manufacturers have been scurrying to get CMMB devices out in the market. The latest come from WINDOW and Orango. The G51 from Window is not out yet but it will have two versions, a 4.3-inch and a 3.5-inch version. We don't know both versions will be named G51. Orango's V2100 is already available as a 3.5-inch PMP with a price tag of 999 yuan for the 4GB. It's an MP5 player supporting RMVB / RM / AVI / FLV with Microsoft's PlayFX added. The Orango V2100 is equipped with everything you could expect from a medium-range Chinese MP4 or MP5 player with TV out and a TF card among its specs. It's good and all that China has finally rolled out its CMMB digital TV technology but the hardware supporting it seems a little overweight at the moment. These PMPs look like they’re packing something that needs to be let out soon.

OPPO Smart Game MP4 Slider with Rotating Screen

OPPO may be competing with Nintendo and Sony soon with a slider gaming PMP with a swiveling screen. It’s still pretty much on the drawing board and to tell the truth we’ve seen this design before. What OPPO has in abundance, though, based on the photo above, is screen space. If they could manage a WVGA resolution on there and enough processing power to emulate all the gaming platforms that can be emulated using today’s mass market technology, I think I might be tempted to bit.
